The scallop shell points pilgrims towards Santiago de Compostela on markers all along the route on the Camino de Santiago. On a medieval pilgrimage, a pilgrim carried a souvenir from the ocean to prove to family, friends, and neighbors that they had reached the end of their intended pilgrimage.

Today, pilgrims often wear this Camino symbol from the start of their journey to identify themselves as part of the Camino walking community. Thanks for being a part of my walking community, whether you join me from your armchair or with an intention like mine to take a long walk when the world is ready.

Wishing you joy and light this holiday season.
